Default IBC District 6 show

For those that haven't heard yet. The BBC will be hosting the International Betta Congress District 6 show at the CAOAC convention on May 115-17, Burlington, Ont. Holiday Inn.

It has been over 35 years since there has been a IBC show in Canada.
29 classes and not a veil tail in sight.
Gerald Griffin (president of the IBC) will be doing two talks and also be one of our Betta judges.
There will 4 classes for purchased Bettas so don't feel left out if you haven't breed your own bettas. You will just not be collecting point for the IBC Grand awards.
If you are into wild bettas there will be two classes. bubble nesters and mouth breeders.
On the Sunday there will also be a separate auction just for Bettas.
For more information check out our web site. www.bettabreederscanada.com or CAOAC web site.

Hope to see you there.

Default Betta Auction

There will be a separate Betta auction held Sunday morning at 10:00 before the CAOAC general fish auction.
Some of the Bettas in the show maybe auctioned. There are several people who will be bringing their lasted offspring to be auctioned. These will be either bettas from the same spawns as the show entries or offspring of the show fish.
The show will be open for the public to view Sat afternoon (after the judging) and all day Sunday.

Can we put our own individual Bettas in this auction before they go into the show, or do we have to put them through the general auction?

Also what type of containers are we allowed to show the Bettas in. I don't have any Beanie boxes now, so will need to use glass jars, will that be OK.

Will the entries and prize money be the same as at other shows?

thanks

Hi Anna
You may put your bettas in the show and then into the BBC auction if you wish.
You do not have to been involved in the show to auction fish, if you are showing, the bettas put in the auction don't have to be your show fish. The maximum entries in the show per person is 10 and the maximum into the Betta auction is ten.
This numbers may increase closer to the convention depending on the number of entries. Our Maximum number of entries for the show will be 150.
The club will be providing the containers for the show. All fish must be shown in the same type of containers and the IBC rules state the type of container. The fish must be pre registered and received before 8:00pm Friday evening.
You can find the registration forms on the CAOAC web site or Betta Breeders Canada web site. You will find directions to fill out the forms and e mail them too.
For the BBC auction , max number of entries is 10. however Bettas sold as pairs or a group (juveniles) count as one entrée.
Hope that helps.

Catherine, that's great that we don't need to buy containers! I have 7 of them that I might show. What time Friday can we start to bring them in?

Do we supply our own water, or is that being done by the club too. Just want
to know so I can have the water treated beforehand.

Will there be supplies at the show for Bettas for sale, or do we need to order
them in advance?

thanks

Default Betta Show

Hi Anna
The IBC District 6 show does not have price money. The 1st,2nd and 3rd will be awarded ribbons and IBC points. The Best of Awards will be one Plaque for Division A male and Division A female, Reserve Male, and Reserve female.
Division A are bettas you have breed your self.
Division D are purchased Bettas, 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners will receive ribbons The Best of Show awards will be a plaque for Best of Show male and Best of Show female, Reserve male and female. IBC points will not be collected for purchased fish.

The water will be provided by the club as well as the containers. We are planning on conditioning the water and heating it the day before so it will be ready for the Bettas. This will put all the fish on the same level.

You will need to provide your own fish bags for the auction fish. If you don't have the appropriate fish bags you may purchase them through the BBC on line store. The auction will be a cash auction. Auction fish will start at $5.00 unless you state other wise. You have the option of placing your Bettas in the CAOAC auction if you wish.

Fish you wish to place in the show must be pre registered by Wed May 13th and brought into the show room by 8:00pm on the Friday May 15th. The show room will be open to receive fish by 3:00pm. Remember to bring a copy of your registration form with you. Have your fish labelled and your entrée fees with you. The fish will be tagged with their labels and benched by the BBC show committee.

The fish must remain on display until Sunday afternoon unless placed in the auction. The Show room will be locked every evening and only open to the public when there are members of the Show committee present.

If you have any other question. Feel free to call or post.

You do not have to be showing bettas in the IBC show to place Bettas in the BBC auction. How ever you must fill out a pre registration form so that we know you wish to auction your fish.
A max of 10 entries are allowed in the auction due to time restraints.
