Am I the only one who's a little annoyed at all the new advertising showing up on the site?

Smelly Dog/Cat? Well - since it's a fish forum - probably not. AND Petco doesnt even operate in Canada!

No! I don't want to participate in a survey. F U COMSCORE, Blue Buffalo and all the other stupid ads which are posted as a stickies on almost every section of this forum AS SPONSORED POSTS. Isn't that what the VENDORS section is for? it even says "Come shop and get updates from our sponsors!"

Seriously VerticalScope, WTF is going on?

We don't sticky ads to sections. "Sponsored" posts sounds like you are using Tapatalk and are seeing those ads that come from the app that we don't have control over. Am I correct?

If I'm wrong, can you link me one these "Sponsored Posts" you are seeing?

Hi Kevin,

nope, I'm using a Chrome browser on a laptop computer running windows.
as you can see, I'm logged in to my profile which normally should avoid most ads. I mean... Ralphs??? I dont even think they have a store in Canada, let alone the GTA. I can put up with ad's from actual sponsors of this site. I can put up with ad's from local businesses. But some of these ads are for companies that have no business in Canada!

+1, I get half the ads are our sponsors and the other half usually cars or something like that.
I'm using Windows 10 on chrome.

lol - I get notifications by email... So a lot of those messages are just things like "ok" or "I'll see you there". I guess it doesn't bother me enough to clear it out. If theres something important, I open it and respond.

That Ralphs ad looks to be a google ad and isn't from us. I'm not too sure if you're suppose to be seeing those when you're logged into your account. Next time it happens, can you try right clicking the ad and grab the ad's URL and I'll send it to our ad team and get them to investigate.

I believe the second ad is delivered by Google/Doubleclick. Such ads are chosen based on some magic that happens behind the scenes including what sites you've previously visited, what Google thinks it knows about you, and what's on the page with the ad. The weighting of each factor is a secret.

Lazy advertisers will let their ads display anywhere rather than putting a geographic restriction on them. In such cases, Google is happy to use up the advertiser's budget :-)
