Wanted Mysid Shrimp

I had a really healthy population of these going before I had a power outage.

I'm looking for someone with a population of them that will be willing to sell or give them to me.

I am located in Scarborough.

I don't honestly have anything that eats them, I just get a kick of watching them flutter around - very cute.

In case anyone is confused as to what critter I am talking about:

Thanks,

Brendle

If you look in the refugium (in big al's Scarborough) above the saltwater tanks with the caulerpa, they have a bunch swimming around in there. Some of the display tanks had the swimming around too, which is where I got them from. I asked one of the guys to siphon some off for me, which they gentleman did. I will probably go in and ask them to do it again. They bred like crazy with no special treatment.

Somehow I doubt you will find someone willing to give you them free. They are VERY hard to culture. When I used to hatch baby cuttlefish I used to spend 100s a month on live mysis.

The best ones are lab grade from http://reedmariculture.com/ They all come roughly the same size and very healthy. You need to feed them baby brine all the time as they are extremely canabolistic.

Wild ones are cheaper but it will also require pricey shipping from the US. As far as I know no one in Canada cultures them.
