Default Something different in discus breeding (at least in my experience)

The pair laid eggs last Monday 9th of Jan. A decent clutch but unfortunately I wasn't prepared for this as I got these fish relatively new. Got a few wrigglers out of it.

Even when the parents were tending to the couple of wrigglers, they started cleaning the clay pot again. Didn't really know what to do as I didn't have the heart to harm the few wrigglers.

Yesterday, they did lay eggs again. A much smaller clutch than before, but now, they are tending to the wrigglers and the new eggs together.

Its a first for me, not that I've bred discuss many time...but its been like 7 times in the last 2 months from 2 pairs.

pic 1 - today. 1 wriggler on the top. There are a few which are trying to be free swimming and the parents are looking after them.

pic 2 - Wed or Thursday from the old clutch.

Default Update

Got 5 free swimming fry. 2 have latched to the parents and the others are kind of riding the air filter bubbles. Shut the filter to see if that will help the fry to move towards the parents.

The parents are not as dark now, generally they would become quite dark. They are still busy tending to the eggs.

Till now, if the batch is not right, the parents have always eliminated the batch and then taken a few days/weeks to lay the next batch. Its kind of really amazing to look at the parents taking care of different batches with the same care. What an amazing fish !!!

The parents cleaned out the 2nd batch of eggs. The 6 fry from the 1st batch are doing well, all attached to the parents...took them a couple of days. Doing fine now. Will post some pics in a few days
