Reptiles, Amphibians and Inverts A lot of aquarists also dabble in keeping reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. Why not have a place to chat about them? :D |

![]() Hey all,
My daughter got 2 baby girl fancy rats a couple months ago, as she thought they would be fun to keep. However it's turning out to be not so fun for her. So she is looking for a good home, includes cage, bedding, whatever food she has. She doesn't want them to be feeders, she wants someone who is willing to put time into keeping them as pets. They go as a pair, one is mainly white with a grey spot, the other is grey. Photos available if needed. Located near Keele and St Clair 30.00 total, complete, for everything.

![]() Not to discourage you from getting rid of them, but Rats mature very quickly and change personality a great deal as they age. I know mine were getting on my nerves at that age, and did some very annoying things. I tried everything to get them to stop, but they just naturally outgrew all the problems. Now they are far more dog-like than rodent-like by a longshot. Unfortunately I have males and can't house them.

Mine are around 9 months old. If you had told me this when they were 3 months I never would have believed you. Its truly shocking how quickly they move to adult and how much they get to know you and their surroundings. The younger teen years can be really tough especially if they aren't well socialized, or if they are fighting with each-other.

![]() No, they aren't fighting with each other. They seem to enjoy hanging out together. They just don't like being picked up, are not cuddly and bite any finger within tooth distance.
We have kept dogs and cats, and fish, and chickens (and the occasional baby bird that needed rescuing), plus a ball snake at one time (not my doing) but these rats were her idea, and I think now she is regretting having jumped in, without doing more research. I will tell her it will get better, but not sure that will change her mind now. She's kinda stubborn.

![]() These rats almost look like bunnies if you add ears. Make a great Easter present. Perfect for the family who has too many tanks and need more variety!
