I somehow ended up with one of these and I really like it - but I'm not sure where it came from. have you seen/does anybody know if one of the local vendors has it?

I like them over other options since they're really sturdy, don't block much flow or light. Might end up ordering them directly if I can't find them locally.

Yeah. Strong magnets - it holds through the 1/2" glass on my tank pretty damn well. And they're sexy looking.

Not sure if you are interested in something different, canada corals has frag racks that look like rocks, magnetic as well. Doesn't hold nearly as many as that rack does. I have one from them, an the hubby raves over it, saying it looks much more natural. Maybe if they read this they can chime in more about it. Definitely a unique piece and comes in 3 sizes if I remember correctly

Thanks - I've seen those, but I'm using it more as a rack for frags, and not for additional space in the tank. Also, one thing to watch out for is that the "rock" can etch the glass. At least that's what I found with earlier versions of magnetic frag discs in the tank.

So far it doesn't look too good. I've e-mailed them twice in the last 4 days and still no response. The last update on their website was back in 2012 and it seems that the latest shipment they sent out for their product was on December 2012.
