Hey there. So my dwarf gouarmi built a huge bubble nest in my tank. I have 1 pair of both Pearl and dwarf gouramis. The dwarf female is looking a lot fatter and the nest is also built with some plants that the male has torn off. Specifically my cabomba, I've held off clipping it to replant to give him a little extra stuff to tear off.

Question: I'm wondering if i should turn off my t5-ho light or leave it on like normal. I normally leave it on 8 hours a day but the reason I'm asking is, does the bright light and extra heat it gives off evaporate the water and pop the bubbles from the bubble nest quicker? Or did he build it there specifically for the extra heat when the lamp is on. The tank is kept at 81f. Thanks in advance!

You do not need to turn off your light. Gourami fish and betta fish will maintain thier bubble nest over time, with or without eggs or fry in it. However, it would be pretty unlikely that you'd get any eggs or even fry last very long. Normally breeding is best accomplished in a separate tank, with slightly lowered light, and a ton of plants.
