Hi everyone,

A friend of mine has some tetras that he cant keep anymore, I believe they are Neon Tetras. I have some tanks, but no heaters. My Room is heated to 23 - 24 C. Will they be ok? Thanks in advance.

This all depends on your tank, do you have a thermometer to keep an eye on the temp?
Neons can tolerate 60-80F, as long as your water fits in, they should be ok.
In my experience (I used to keep a school prior to the power outage) they thrive at mid to high 70's F

A heater is necessary. firstly because your room temperature is pretty cold for them (and the water will be even colder) and secondly because without a heater the temperature in the water will be constantly changing, thus shocking the fish

From past experience I have kept neons between 20 -24c, if your room is at 24c your water temp will be about 3-4c cooler so this would be very border line. hat temp was your friend keeping the neons at, you should try to keep the temp the same.
