so I was looking through my tank today and noticed this crab on one of my corals.. it has since moved from the coral in the picture to my monti cap i believe it is.. i don't know if its good or bad and i need to know if i should get rid of it or if i can leave it be.. it seems that the corals it gets on it starts to pick at.. im not sure if its cleaning or if its picking polyps off of them.. some help would be awesome as i don't know what to do.. the crab is kind of fuzzy and a dark yellowish

Looks like Green Emerald....an algae eater commonly sold in LFS.

It is a bad acro crab. It will eat your sps. The good ones are not fuzzy/hairy. Not reef safe.
These are the ones you want to keep : Reef safe acro crabs

Take it out and make a good picture with full light, but generally what is fuzzy is not reef safe.

A good maxim in reef keeping is that "no crab is reef-safe", but the Mithrax group of crabs, of which the emerald crab is a member, comes as close as you will get with a non-commensal crab. As a general rule with crabs, the larger one gets, the less reef-safe it will become.

The bigger ones will even prey on small sleeping fish and shrimps.

it is definately not an emerald crab.. i have had one of those in my tank before and i know what they look like.. and it doesn't look like any of the pictures from the live aquaria site either.. im gonna go with its a bad acro eating crab because i just seen it picking at my monti again... but it has a lip under it and crawls back into the cave when i try to get at it now.. im gonna have to do some sneaky stuff.. i had it swinging around earlier when i was moving stuff i should have grabbed it than.. operation get er out will be in full force

It looks hairy and scary. I'd catch him (if you can) and banish him to the sump. Acro crabs are smooth and light-coloured

15 minutes in coral RX and they are dead. mine did. bigger ones just went belly up. the smaller ones fell out of the acros and got sucked into powerhead and got pulverized! lol. the tiny ones were sooo cute. ah well.
